Your music, your identity, your money, and your data stays yours too.

01

Who we are

Studio Mtaani is a programme run by Jabali Studios, in partnership with RIKE, that helps Kenyan artists register their music rights and collect what they earn. When we say “we” or “us” on this page, we mean Studio Mtaani / Jabali Studios. We are the party responsible for the personal data described here.

02

What we collect

  • Who you are: your name, phone number and email address.
  • What you send us: messages, documents and details you share over WhatsApp or email while we register your work.
  • Your music details: song and recording information, ownership splits and the identifiers (IPI, ISRC, ISWC) we set up for you.
  • Payment details: the M-Pesa number we send your earnings to, and records of payments made.
  • Facebook Login data: if you sign in with Facebook, we receive your basic public profile (name, profile picture) and email address. We only use it to identify your account.
03

Why we use it

We use your data only to run the programme for you: to register your identity and copyright, track and claim the royalties your music earns, pay you on M-Pesa, and stay in touch about your account. We do not use it for anything you didn't sign up for.

04

Who we share it with

To collect your money, some of your details have to reach the organisations that pay it. We share only what is necessary with:

  • RIKE and collection bodies: to register your recordings and claim royalties.
  • Payment providers: to send your earnings to your M-Pesa number.
  • Trusted service providers: tools we use to run the programme, bound to keep your data safe.

We never sell your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising.

05

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and your music is earning. If you ask us to delete it, we do. See our data protection & deletion page. Some records (like tax and royalty payment records) we may be required by law to keep for a set period, even after deletion.

06

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. To delete your data, follow the steps on our data protection page. To do anything else, just message us using the contacts below.

07

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information and limit who can access it to the people running the programme. No system is ever perfectly secure, but we treat your data with the care it deserves.
