The agreement
These terms cover your use of Studio Mtaani, a programme run by Jabali Studios in partnership with RIKE. By joining the programme (by signing up over WhatsApp, on our website, or through Facebook Login) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What we do for you
We help you set up your music identity and copyright, register your recordings, and track and claim the royalties your music earns, so you get paid. We act on your behalf to register and collect. We do not take ownership of your music.
You own your work
Your songs, recordings, identity and copyright stay fully yours. We set them up and hand you the controls. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your music to us. You give us permission to register and administer your rights only so we can collect what you're owed on your behalf.
Your responsibilities
- Be honest: give us accurate details about you, your music and the ownership splits.
- Own what you register: only register work you actually made or have the rights to.
- Keep your access safe: the phone number and accounts you use to reach us are yours to protect.
If the information you give us is wrong, it can delay or block your payments, so keep it accurate and up to date.
Payments & our fee
The programme is free to join. Studio Mtaani only earns a cut of royalties after you've been paid, and we never charge upfront. Verified earnings reach you on M-Pesa. Royalty amounts and timing depend on the platforms and collection bodies that pay them, so we can't guarantee a specific amount or date.
Your data
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your data at any time. See the data protection & deletion page.
Leaving the programme
You can leave at any time, just tell us. Your rights and identity stay yours to take with you. We'll stop administering new collections for you and, if you ask, delete your data as described above. Any earnings already owed to you up to that point will still be paid.
The honest limits
We work hard on your behalf, but we provide the service “as is”. We can't promise specific earnings, and we're not responsible for delays or decisions made by third parties like platforms, collection bodies or payment providers. Nothing here removes rights you have under Kenyan law.
